Overview
The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Canberra manages one of China's most important bilateral relationships in the Asia-Pacific. Australia is a major trading partner — China is Australia's largest export market, principally for iron ore, coal, LNG, agricultural products, education services and tourism. The embassy coordinates five consulates general across Australia — in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide. The Chinese community in Australia is one of the largest diaspora populations in the country, and Chinese students form the largest international student cohort at Australian universities.
