Overview
The Embassy of Iceland in Rome is Iceland's embassy in Italy, headed by Ambassador Mr. Guðmundur Árnason. The embassy is located at Corso Vittorio Emanuele II 154 in central Rome. Iceland and Italy are NATO allies and EEA/Schengen partners with bilateral ties in trade, tourism, renewable energy, and cultural exchange. Italy is a growing source market for visitors to Iceland, and the two countries share volcanic geology (Etna and Stromboli vs Eyjafjallajökull and Hekla) that creates natural research collaboration. Honorary consulates in Genoa, Milan, Naples, and Venice provide local contact points across Italy.
Visa Services
Iceland is a Schengen and EEA member. Italian citizens and all EEA nationals travel to Iceland freely under EEA freedom of movement with no time limit. For nationals of countries requiring a Schengen visa, applications are coordinated through the embassy.
Consular Services
The embassy provides passport services, identity document processing, civil registrations, notarial services, and emergency consular assistance for Icelandic nationals in Italy. Appointments must be arranged in advance.
Service Area
The embassy covers the entire Italian Republic. Honorary consulates in Genoa (HC-General Maria Cristina Rizzi), Milan (HC-General Olga Clausen), Naples (HC Gianluca Eminente), and Venice (HC Sara Francesca Tirelli) provide local first-line contact.
