Overview
The Embassy of Mongolia in Vienna serves as Mongolia's principal diplomatic mission in Austria, located in the Hietzing district. Mongolia — the vast Central Asian nation of endless steppe, the Gobi Desert, nomadic herding traditions, and the legacy of Genghis Khan — maintains this Vienna mission to serve its nationals in Austria and manage bilateral relations. The embassy handles consular services including visa issuance, passport renewal, and document authentication. An honorary consulate in Vienna provides additional local support. Austria and Mongolia have maintained diplomatic relations since 1963, and Mongolia's embassy in Vienna also covers Austria's role as a host to international organizations (IAEA, UNIDO, OSCE) with which Mongolia cooperates.
Consular Services
The consular section (konsulat-wien@mfa.gov.mn, phone ext. -12) processes visa applications, passport services, civil registration, and document authentication for Mongolian nationals in Austria. Austrian citizens can obtain visa information here — many nationalities can enter Mongolia visa-free for short stays.
Service Area
The embassy covers the Republic of Austria. An honorary consulate in Vienna provides additional local support.
