Namibian Embassy in Berlin

Embassy of Namibia in Berlin, Germany

Overview

The Embassy of the Republic of Namibia in Berlin sits in the leafy Reichsstrasse neighbourhood of Westend. For ordinary Namibia visa applications — Visa on Arrival, Holiday Visa, work, MICE and study permits — applicants in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and Türkiye apply directly through the Namibian Ministry of Home Affairs' online portal; the embassy itself processes only visas for holders of Diplomatic and Official Passports. The mission also serves as the consular point of contact for Namibian citizens resident in the four countries it covers, handles apostille on Namibian-issued documents, and supports Namibian trade and investment promotion through its commercial section.

Visa Services

Ordinary visa applications (tourism, business, work up to six months, MICE, study) from Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and Türkiye are submitted directly to the Namibian Ministry of Home Affairs through its online portal, including online payment and electronic delivery of the approval. The embassy in Berlin does not accept ordinary visa applications in person and asks travellers to direct visa-related questions to visa@namibia-botschaft.de. Diplomatic and Official Passport visas are processed in-house by appointment. Visa on Arrival applicants travelling on German, Austrian, Swiss, EU, UK or other listed passports complete the online application, pay the N$1,600 fee electronically (children under 6 free; children 6–11 pay 50%), and carry a printed approval document to a designated Namibian port of entry.

Consular Services

The Consular Section assists Namibian citizens in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and Türkiye with passport applications and renewals, emergency travel documents, birth and marriage registration, citizenship matters, identity-document replacement, police clearance and apostille on Namibian-issued documents. Applications generally require an in-person appointment within the Monday-to-Wednesday consular window. The embassy can also support Namibian nationals in distress within its consular jurisdiction.

Trade & Export Support

The Commercial Section, reachable separately on +49 30 263 900 12 and commerce@namibia-botschaft.de, supports German companies looking at the Namibian market and Namibian exporters seeking German buyers. Priority sectors include green hydrogen, renewable energy, logistics through the port of Walvis Bay, mining and beneficiation, agriculture and tourism. The section works with the German-African Business Association, AHK Southern Africa and Namibia's Ministry of Industrialisation and Trade.

Cultural & Educational Programs

The embassy supports cultural exchange between Namibia and Germany — university links, scholarship programmes, German-Namibian heritage cooperation — and works with the diaspora community across its four-country consular jurisdiction on national-day events, independence celebrations and outreach to Namibian students in German universities.

Service Area

Consular services cover Namibian citizens resident in the Federal Republic of Germany, the Republic of Poland, the Czech Republic and the Republic of Türkiye. Honorary Consulates in Stuttgart, Munich, Hamburg, Hannover-Laatzen, Bremerhaven, Erfurt and Herten extend the embassy's reach across the German Bundesländer; further honorary consulates serve Warsaw, Prague, Istanbul and Ankara.

Appointment Information

Appointments for consular and diplomatic-passport visa services are arranged by email (visa@namibia-botschaft.de for visa enquiries, info@namibia-botschaft.de for consular and general matters) or by telephone during the afternoon enquiry window. Walk-in service for non-emergency matters is not available.

Special Notes

Ordinary tourist, business, work and MICE applicants should not travel to Berlin to apply — applications are made online through the Ministry's portal. The embassy lies five minutes' walk from S-Bahn Heerstrasse and is reached from central Berlin via S-Bahn line S3 or S9. Reichsstrasse runs parallel to the Theodor-Heuss-Platz axis. Parking on the street is metered. Bring originals and copies of every supporting document to consular appointments.
