Overview
The High Commission of Nigeria in London — Nigeria House, on Northumberland Avenue near Trafalgar Square — is the senior post in Nigeria's diplomatic network in Europe and one of the most operationally important missions Nigeria maintains anywhere. The UK hosts one of the largest Nigerian-origin communities outside Africa, the Nigeria-UK bilateral file is dense across trade, education, security cooperation and Commonwealth engagement, and the consular workload is correspondingly large. Nigeria also maintains Consulates-General in Glasgow and in other UK cities through its diplomatic network.
Visa Services
The High Commission processes visa applications for travel to Nigeria — tourist, business, transit, work and other categories — for UK citizens and UK residents.
Consular Services
The High Commission provides passport issuance and renewal, lost-passport replacement, civil-status documentation, document legalisation, notarial services, and emergency consular assistance. Services for visa applicants travelling to Nigeria, including extensions and amendments, are also handled through the High Commission.
Trade & Export Support
The High Commission's trade and investment section supports Nigeria-UK commerce — Nigeria is one of the UK's largest African trading partners — and works alongside the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission and the Nigerian Export Promotion Council to promote non-oil exports and inward investment.
Cultural & Educational Programs
The High Commission supports Nigeria's substantial cultural and educational engagement with the UK, including the Nigerian student community in British universities, the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission engagement, and the deep Nigerian-British cultural cross-flows through diaspora arts, music and literature.
